The Difference in Numbers

I moved on Friday. I anticipated spending the evening with boxes and loneliness. However, that was not to be the case. The older dutch woman that I am boarding with, turns to me at dinner and asks me if I want to go for a drive. Now, being in a car is not my favourite passtime but it sounded much more appealing than boxes and loneliness....so I agreed.

It turned out that the drive had a destination. We ended up going to two different homes that housed her children and their spouses. The last house that we dropped into, her children from out of town also showed up at. It turns out that the weekend I decided to move was their family reunion weekend. The family invited me to brunch on Sunday and a BBQ on Saturday. I pretty much was welcomed as part of the family.

I thanked the family that had me over many times that weekend for being so welcoming and kind. The son turned to me and said, "no problem, when there is already 30 people what is one more." And I turned to him and replied, "but for that one person it means the world."
