Memory Work

The memory work for this week was Philippians 4:8, "Whatever is pure, whatever is noble..."

This is what one kid wrote:

"Sorry Miss Ssolnegraph my Bible is different so..it said this...
so...you put on a sack cloth lament and wait for the fierece anger of the has not turn away from us."

How do you mark that? Based on creativity or accuracy? Another smile brought to a teacher's face.

Early Christmas Present

I got the best christmas present yesterday. My little brother flew from out west to surprise me yesterday. And boy was it a surprise - full of tears, laughter, joy, and a feeling of completeness. I really miss that kid. It felt so good to be with family again....the more I'm away from them the more I appreciate them.

Bible Answers

I was sitting in Tim Horton's on Saturday marking a Bible test. Here are two responses that made me laugh aloud:

Q. What is the story of Cain and Abel?
A. Cain got jealous because his brother had a better sacrifice so he married him. (I believe murdered must be our next spelling word)

Q. What do you think God feels whe he looks at te world today? Why?
A. Like we feel if we owe tax bills are $100, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000 (yes he took the time to write all those zeros) because there is tons of sin.

The cat came back

Every Friday evening I go skating in Simcoe. Usually I end up skating with my students (who for some odd reason will cross the teacher/student culture boundary and skate with me). I love it!! It makes me laugh.

And then the cat came back.

I brought a friend skating. Skating is over at 8:00p.m. and the night is young for her (although late for a school teacher). We ended up at the youth centre in Simcoe. And I've agreed to volunteer there. Apparently I can't leave it alone (and neither do I want to). I miss the energy, the questions, the discovery process, the conversations that come with working with teens. Ah, the cat is back and let it purr.
